The opening Sinfonia from Bach's Cantata BWV 156, Ich steh mit einem Fuß im Grabe (I stand with one foot in the grave) features one of his most beloved melodies, originally scored for oboe, strings and continuo.
This arrangement faithfully arranges the strings and continuo for keyboard (e.g. piano, harpsichord, organ) accompaniment, with any instrument in C (e.g. oboe, flute, violin).
As the original cadences to the dominant in preparation for the next movement of the Cantata, an additional alternate ending is provided.
