Rameau is fast becoming one of my favourite Baroque composers. He is imaginative and writes with style and flare.

Pygmalion is a one act ballet. The story is based on the myth of Pygmalion as told in Ovid's Metamorphoses. The sculptor Pygmalion falls in love with a statue of a beautiful woman he has carved and asks the goddess Venus to bring it to life (from Wikipedia).

Rameau's score has depicted Pymalion chipping away at the block as he forms his dream woman. I have made a special case of highlighting these repeated quaver passages. The ballet was one of his best and very popular during the latter 18th Century.

Not an easy score to arrange because of the limited original instrumentation but I think it works. If you haven't noticed, I have written each repeated section out in full to create some variation in colour and expression.

Final tweaks at last and now happy with results. Enjoy!
