A dark and mysterious composition for 12 recorders. This piece is scored for 12 players like more of my compositions, but this time biased to the lower instruments: SAATTBBBGGCC.
Large parts of this piece feature long chords with quick, hard to distinguish, riffs over and under it, mostly in the lower voices.
This makes the appearance of some elegant melodies in the higher voices all the more surprising, but the fast riffs pretty soon start intruding again.
Starting with a single stab per measure, this piece starts out with a mood of stillness that never completely leaves. While there are some vaguely tonal sounds, much is in my free pantonal / atonal idiom.
