This organ prelude on "Amazing grace" is a contemporary, instrumental, abstract interpretation of the traditional hymn. The solo line is highly improvisatory, and the harmonies reflect the modality and "open" sound of shape-note music. The mood of this work is connected especially closely to verse 4 of the hymn (Through many dangers…). This composition is suitable for use in a worship service or as a recital piece.
