'Walking the Dog' is from George Gershwin's film score for Shall We Dance starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers. In the film, the music accompanies a sequence of passengers walking their dogs on board a luxury cruise ship. The excerpt has also become known as the 'Promenade'.
