An attractive arrangement of this Gilbert & Sullivan favourite for mixed woodwind trio of 2 Flutes plus Clarinet in B-flat/Bassoon.

W S Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan were major figures in musical theatre of the Victorian era, collaborating on a series of extremely popular comic operettas, which lampooned some of the fashions and conventions of the time. This duet from the second act of Iolanthe involves Strephon, the half-fairy, half-mortal son of the titular character, and Phyllis, the lady whom he loves. The two have just become reconciled after a rift and recognise that they should marry quickly, before they lose their attraction for one another, or one of them falls for someone else.
