Malaika is a Swahili word that means "angel" the song is from Tanzania a country in East Africa. The song was made popular by South African singer Mirriam Makeba. The best translation of the song in English is "I love you my angel"(nakupenda malaika). Most African folk music is not written down as a result we loose most of our music with time. From 2018 I came up with the Idea to start arranging most African folk tunes start sharing them with the rest of the world. This arrangement is one such example from my projects. The music should be played with such deep emotion, it requires sustained notes; hence the heavy use of the sustain pedal. In the same manner the violin should use as much vibrato as possible. Imagine a situation where a man proposes love to a woman and the man is kind of scare and stammering. I hope you enjoy this beautiful African tune.
