One of the most beautiful arias from The Pearl Fishers has been arranged to give your French Horn player an opportunity to be featured. The work is more difficult than it appears and will require considerable control to master the melodic lines.
The piano part is optional allowing for performance by a woodwind quintet.
Because of the romantic nature of the work, the tempo must be flexible rather than metronomic. Listening to a recording of a great singer performing the work would be helpful. Detailed suggestions for interpretation have been included in the endnotes but these should be discussed within the group and accepted or rejected to meet with your artistic sense rather than being slavishly followed.
