First, Monn's lively, childishly cheerful music cautiously extends its hand towards classicism. Unfortunately, he died early, leaving his compositions orphaned and unperformed. But after his death, fate honoured this master of experiments completely, rewarding him with the love of the audience and the absolute commitment of the performers. So many more of his discoveries are waiting to be publicised! By the way, one of his symphonies, completed in 1740, is the first known bold example of a four-part cycle using a menuetto in the third part.
