Miniature Overture (Fantasia from Nutcracker) for Clarinet Quartet

This arrangement has been carefully written for clarinet quartet and is suitable for approximately Grade 2 standard and above. Designed to be enjoyable and rewarding to perform, the music provides an engaging addition to the clarinet quartet repertoire while remaining practical, accessible and enjoyable for rehearsals, lessons and concerts.

Musical material is shared throughout the ensemble, allowing all four players opportunities to perform melodic, harmonic and accompanying lines. The arrangement encourages the development of ensemble awareness, listening skills, rhythmic accuracy, balance, intonation and confidence while providing an enjoyable musical experience for performers and audiences alike.

Clarinet 4 may be performed on either B♭ Clarinet or Bass Clarinet, allowing the arrangement to be adapted to suit the available players and instrumentation.

An optional piano accompaniment has also been included to provide additional harmonic support where required, making the arrangement particularly suitable for rehearsals, educational settings and performances with developing ensembles.
