The early American hymn melody "Morning Song" has been attributed to Elkanah Kelsey Dare (1782-1826). This tune exists in 86.86 (Common Meter) and in 86.86.86, where the second half of the tune is repeated. The present arrangement is in 86.86. The words of this hymn are by the Westmorland poet Margaret Beatrice Cropper (1886-1980).
