The first movement begins with an optimistic and simple tune. This leads to the introduction of a cheeky melody.The mood is then punctuated by complex set of triplets which bridges to a variation of the second melody before further variation of the main theme.
The second movement is a slow 'Largo in simple ABCA form. 'A' is a strong bass theme, leading to a more complex and intense B section. A dolce 'C' section relieves the tension and prepares the stage for the recap.
The Bass theme continues into the third movement. An alternative theme is then introduced which lightens the mood. This is repeated in variation form. The agitated mood then increases with the recap which then leads into a long furious coda.
