Programme Notes: These are seven little duets of approximately grade 3 level for violin and viola based upon the children’s songs: Old MacDonald Had A Farm, The Grand Old Duke Of York, Early One Morning, Blow The Wind Southerly, Oh Soldier, Soldier, Strawberry Fair and Dashing Away With The Smoothing Iron. The duets are intended to be played by either by students, or for a teacher and pupil. The two instruments are treated with equal importance, and are arranged so as to help the players practise and develop their skills in sight-reading, ensemble, listening and instrumental technique.
