Possibly the first instrumental piece to specify dynamics (hence the title). Written about 1600 for two antiphonal instrumental groups, this is now an established concert repertoire item. The horn parts may perhaps be doubled, in which case the instrumentation is the same as a standard symphony orchestra brass section. In a very resonant acoustic notes need to be well separated, and you will need to adopt a somewhat slower tempo, or else the rhythmic complexities of the final bars will be lost.
