The third and final movement introduces the same sequence of notes that open each movement –this time played against an F major tonality. There follows an extended four part canon and contrapuntal episodes leading to a fugal section. This fugue is not strict in the sense that the entry of each voice slightly alters the rhythmic characteristics of the theme yet each entrance is clearly recognizable.
