'Ti-O-O' is also the name of a famous Taiwanese folksong, which is about an interesting story between a grandfather and a grandmother. The grandfather went out to dig a taro with a hoe when it was going to rain. When he was digging, he found a fish. He was very excited. The grandfather and the grandmother wanted to cook it, but they preferred different flavors. The grandfather wanted it to be salty, but the grandmother wanted it to be light. They argued and fought, and finally they broke the pot.
The tune of this duet for double bass and piano is taken from this folksong. It contains several sections and different feelings. I think the double bass is an instrument which is able to present both 'grandfather' and the 'grandmother' very well. The solo section for the double bass presents their regret for their fighting of losing a good dish.
