Veni Creator Spiritus is a setting of the ancient hymn Come Holy Spirit Creator Come.
The congregation sings the simple chant in two non-consecutive lines. These may be divided between male and female voices. Once these lines are established a choir or soloist, ideally a soprano, sing the main text of the hymn above the congregational ground.
If done sensitively a beautiful effective may be achieved.
