Gary Laughrey

Assistant Professor of Music at Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, Kentucky (retired). I was Principal Clarinet in the Owensboro Community Band; Baritone Sax player with the Owensboro Symphony's 2nd Street Big Band and performed in the orchestra for several musicals in my career in Oklahoma and Kentucky. I was Lead Woodwind player on a daily television show for 6 years and was a Minister of Music at several churches during my career-including staff arranger. My playing career has provided me with the opportunity to perform with Bob Hope, the Modernaires, Stars of the Lawrence Welk Show, the Ice Capades and in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Paris, Vienna, and Stuttgart. I earned my Master of Church Music degree from ORU in 1994. I'm very pleased that I can put more energy (and have the time) into my passion for composing and arranging. My professional experiences have provided a good background in a wide variety of genres.
