We present here two stylistically diverse movements in this work. The first begins mysteriously with a descending whole-tone and diatonic scalar mix which builds to a sudden release into a "fun with scales" section with inter-weaving scale passages,a 'touch' of Tchaikovsky leading to a brief reprise and a surprise ending. The second movement begins at a fast pace with 'disconsonant' textures leading to our main 'theme' and building to a big climax-which is followed by the 'copycat' section, a restatement of our theme and a rush to a satisfying finish. Challenging, but fun! (For greater flexibility, each movement is independent of the other; either would make a great concert opener or encore by themselves). Approx. 3:40 performance time.
