For Richard Schultz, the day job involves writing patents on all sorts of non-musical subjects. His musical training includes private instruction in piano and composition, and a variety of classes in theory and orchestration/conducting taken in college taken while his chemistry professors weren't looking. Even as he approaches middle age, he still imagines that some day a Major International Orchestra is going to come knocking at his door to ask how (inter alia) "Das Lied von der Erde" and the Chausson symphony were *really* meant to be played. . .
