The Makropulos Case (Affair, Secret etc.) is a three part opera which musically throws at the listener a barrage of musical ideas & motifs with little thematic development.

The prelude presented various challenges with a much smaller instrumental set and some effects (fanfare motif) starts from a distance whilst another moves like an echo into it. It has no closure as it fires into the first act so I simply added the tonic in the bass section of the band to end it. I worked this arrangement by ear and the tempos are deceptive so I used the quaver beat to assume the vocabulary on the score. Hope you enjoy it!
