We have sung this piece at the Middle School and High School where I teach, and used it as a vehicle to inspire discussion around these issues. Open discussion can be very helpful, it takes people out of isolation. Singing also brings us closer together. I hope by simply thinking about these issues we can make the world a safer place. Teaching people how to sing and play instruments rather then "playing with guns", we create a more harmonious world. Guns have their place as well, but they need to be respected and treated as the powerful tools that they are, they are not toys to be used to vent our frustration and anger.
