Carl Bohm's beautiful song "Still wie die Nacht was written in 1868. I have arranged it for the largely neglected Bb Baritone, accompanied by British style Brass Band. My preference is for it to be used as a Baritone Solo, though it it entirely possible for it to played by the Solo Trombone (in which case the 1st Baritone player should cover the Solo Trombone band part.
Bohm was popular in his lifetime, though sadly quite forgotten today (apart from this song and maybe a few others)
His publisher, Simrock, also had the unknown but upcoming Johannes Brahms on their books and apparently some of the profits from Bohm's work was put to use in supporting Brahms at the time. Now of course Brahms is a household name, while Bohm is largely forgotten.
