In Foinn Fianna�ochta (Tunes of the Fianna) I set out to create atmospheric pieces that the youngsters could equate with The Fianna were the warriors of the legendary hero of Gaelic mythology, Fionn MacCumhaill (pronounced F-yun Mock Coo-il). In this first piece of the suite I wanted to suggest the sentries on parade, beginning rather pompously, full of their own importance!Imagining that they hear an intruder in the camp they creep up on "him"––but there is nobody there, so they resume their swagger, until, finally, the whole camp can settle to sleep in safety.
