Gabreil Marie studied at the Conservatoire de Paris and had an active life in the musical circles of Paris.

He is now mainly known for La Cinquantaine ("The Golden Wedding"), for cello and piano composed in 1887. La Cinquantaine is the second in a collection of two pieces for cello and piano. The first piece in the set is this Lamento. It's a short and beautiful piece that should be played more often.

Here is an arrangement for cello and string orchestra.
