Midnight Tango is essentially arranged for Piano Quartet but with the addition of 2 (very) optional tuned percussion instruments - a Glockenspiel and a single Tubular bell (B natural). They are not really required but offer an additional nod to the title in that they 'chime' 12 times during the performance. Any other instruments that could simulate a chiming clock (quietly) could be substituted. They are not at all essential. The title referes to the fact that back in 1992 when I first created this piece, I noticed that it was midnight when I began it. The dedication 'Los Tangueros de Lviv' refers to the people of Lviv, Ukraine who are very enthusiastic about the Tango and indeed have performed my other Tango (Lazy Tango) on several Tango festivals in the Philharmonic Hall there.
