Up to a short while ago, I knew virtually nothing about the country or its music, but after I reviewed a CD of Albanian Piano Music so enchantingly played my Albanian pianist Marsida Koni, who now lives in Perugia, Italy, I have found a new friend, who has enlightened me about what her original country has to offer, musically.

The National Anthem, meanwhile, isn't especially Albanian, as it was originally written for another purpose by its Romanian composer, Ciprian Porumbescu, who lived just from 1853-1883.
