Requiem is full of emotion and great liberty should be taken with both tempo and timing. There is also conflict between parts and the result is intended to very much be a struggle between instruments for dominance. There is repetition as new layers of instruments and counter-melodies are introduced, but each layer needs to continue to be heard, and the band should not back away from their repeating melody any more than necessary.
The percussion section can be edited as necessary, but they are very much their own voice in Requiem. I imagine the addition of tube bells or wind chimes. The trumpet parts (at H and onwards) are written in a call-and-answer fashion, and ultimately resolve the piece. Consider having a player stand when entering or even dividing the section to opposing sides of the performance space to give physical and acoustic separation.
