I wrote this piece in less than three weeks for a composer's institute hosted by Daniel McCarthy at Interlochen during the summer of 2005. The most common remark I got was that it resembles Schubert. It has piano, flute, clarinet, violin, viola and cello and is in AA' form. So far, this is my only work that has a real live .mp3 recording of a performance, although this will hopefully change in the future! I'm playing the viola part… I urge you to check it out!
Its second performance was on July 16, 2007, in Moscow, Idaho.
I have subsequently decided it to be the third movement of a three-movement sextet. The first movement was finished in 2018, and the second movement in 2023.
