This work was commissioned by Ellesmere Port Music Society to celebrate the end of the covid lockdowns, and the resumption of live singing. It opens in darkness, dissonant and quietly, before the voices enter as a whisper, before growing to a shout with the text 'voices in the darkness'. As the piece progresses, it goes on a journey from the dark to the light, with the work ending in a blaze of glory with a triumphant chorale. We Celebrate the Light was premiered by Ellesmere Port Music Society in April 2021.
