An arrangement of this popular Scottish tune, for woodwind trio of flute, clarinet and bassoon. A bass clarinet alternative to the bassoon part is also available, for added flexibility.

Mairi’s Wedding (or the Lewis Bridal Song) is generally regarded as a Scottish folk tune, though it is accredited to J R Bannerman in 1934, who composed the song to celebrate Mary C McNiven winning the prestigious gold medal for singing at that year’s National Mod competition. The original song was in Gaelic – English words were added later, though these give the song a rather different character. In Scotland, the tune is used as a pipe band march and for Scottish country dancing. It can frequently be heard at some stage during a wedding celebration!
