This is an arrangement for cello and piano of Jacques Offenbach's (1819-1880) famous "Entr'acte et Barcarolle", the 15th musical number of the Third Act of his last opera, Les contes d'Hoffmann ("The Tales of Hoffmann"). The aim of this arrangement is to have an enjoyable piece not too difficult to play with a small classical ensemble, and to allow this beautiful and memorable melody to be relished in special occasions, as well as in regular chamber recitals.
