The fugue of this piece was originally conceived as a quartet in c minor with flute, oboe, clarinet and bassoon. The entire four-movement work also exists as a recorder quartet SATB in g minor (publication SMM112). It translates very well to a string quartet and should prove entertaining to the players involved. Parts can be obtained by contacting me; I was unable to create perfect extracted parts before the contest deadline!
